International Postage

International Postage

There’s a moment, just after a painting is finished, when the studio shifts. The work is complete but now it has to leave.

As a painter working from Northern Ireland, I’ve come to see the sending of a piece as an extension of the work itself. Not something separate, but a final stage that requires just as much care and attention as the painting process.

Each piece is carefully prepared before it leaves the studio. I check every surface and edge, remove the painting from its stretcher bars, wrap the work using protective, archival materials and cushioning everything needed to ensure it can travel safely over long distances. Whether it’s heading across the UK, to Europe, or further afield, the aim is always the same: that it arrives exactly as it left me.

Over time, the logistics of shipping internationally have become more complex. Costs have risen, and from Northern Ireland there are additional customs requirements to navigate. That means detailed documentation, accurate descriptions, and ensuring everything is correctly declared before it’s sent.

This is where I take on the bulk of the work.

I organise the courier, prepare and complete all necessary paperwork, and make sure the painting is securely packaged and fully insured. I track each shipment closely and stay in communication throughout, so that collectors aren’t left wondering where their piece is or what happens next.

For buyers, this means the process is as straightforward as possible. While there may occasionally be local import duties or taxes depending on the destination, I do everything I can on my side to make the journey smooth, transparent, and reliable.

There’s a quiet responsibility in sending something so personal out into the world. But it’s one I take seriously. From the moment a painting leaves the studio to the moment it arrives, I make sure it’s handled with care.

Because in the end, it’s not just about creating the work it’s about delivering it safely, professionally, and with the same level of attention that went into making it.

Please note that orders shipped outside of the UK may be subject to import duties, taxes, and customs fees once they arrive in the destination country. These charges are the responsibility of the buyer and are not included in the item price or shipping cost. We recommend checking with your local customs office for further information before placing your order.
