Born in Northern Ireland in 1995, the same year the ceasefire brought a fragile hope to the conflict known as the Troubles, Peter entered a world shaped by decades of conflict and trauma. Like many who grew up in and around Northern Ireland, the legacy of the Troubles has influenced his life and his art; though perhaps not in the way one might expect.

At a young age, Peter moved from the east of the country to the quieter, rural west, where he grew up among the wild landscapes and waterways of County Fermanagh.

A county steeped in ancient history and defined by its rugged beauty, Fermanagh is a land shaped by water, with the vast expanse of Lough Erne at its heart. It was here, surrounded by the natural landscapes that would later become central to his work, that Peter developed his connection to the environment.

At seventeen, after much encouragement from a secondary school teacher, Peter picked up his first paintbrush. His first painting was created on a small sheet of acrylic paper. From that moment, he never looked back.

For almost ten years, painting remained a passion and a hobby, pursued alongside the rest of his life. But with years of practice came a growing realisation: this was more than a hobby. It was what he was meant to do.

Today, Peter’s work is deeply rooted in the aura of ancient lands and experiences that have shaped him, drawing on a lifelong connection to the wild, atmospheric beauty of nature.
