“This painting was created during a period when I was exploring the culture, history, and traditions of Indigenous peoples of the Americas. At the same time, I was experiencing the presence of loss within my own family, with thoughts of mortality and grief becoming increasingly close. From the meeting of these experiences came this piece and a reflection on life, death, memory, and the connections that remain beyond our physical existence.”
